Men of Honor Women of Virtue
Weekend Seminar and Rites of Passage
A life-changing and transformational weekend Seminar for churches that culminates in ceremonial Rites of Passage for young men and women to be recognized as adults in the community of adult believers.
This powerful weekend seminar for the church has been a significant launching point for young men and women on a path of developing their faith, and it has been recognized by the adults in their church as a step that has been missing in the discipleship process.
What is the need for a Men of Honor Women of Virtue Seminar and Rites of Passage?
- 9 out of 10 church families will see their children leave the church.
- Most of those attending youth ministries have already decided that after high school, they do not need church.
- Many of the sons and daughters in the church feel that the culture regards them as adults, and in the church, they are still “kids.”
In the words of one young man after the weekend seminar and Rite of Passage Ceremony, “I have known that I was an adult for over a year. I just wondered if my church would ever see me as an adult and a man!”
Who should attend?
- This seminar has been life-changing for the entire church
- Pastors, Staff, Key Volunteers, and Leaders.
- STUDENTS FROM AGES 13 (7TH GRADE) TO 23 YEARS OLD AND THEIR PARENTS
Length of Seminar?
- Sessions are tailored to be conducted from Friday evening to Sunday evening.
Key Resource for Seminar:
- Book: Men of Honor Women of Virtue, by Dr. Chuck Stecker
Sessions include:
“Raising Men of Honor & Women of Virtue” Time: 2 hours
For: The entire congregation over 23 years of age
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”
This is for parents, church leaders, and the adults in the congregation to hear an overview of the specific information that will be presented throughout the rest of the weekend. It is followed by a question-and-answer Session. The session includes a time for learning about and receiving the “Father’s blessing” for themselves. The youth/students do not attend this session.
“R U Ready?” Time: Regular Sunday sermon length (can be repeated for multiple services)
For: The entire congregation
Luke 12:40 “You also must be ready; because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him.”
R U Ready to understand manhood and womanhood from God’s perspective and not the culture’s perspective? What is an adult, and how do you know when you are one? These are the questions addressed in this humorously powerful session. The church will be challenged to see how the world is trying to distort and confuse them about adulthood. Authentic adulthood is about individual responsibility and not “rights.”
“R U Able?” Time: 1 hour
For: The entire congregation
Ephesians 6:11 “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”
Adulthood comes from God alone. It’s about maturity, not perfection. God’s strength – not yours, and God alone determines your value.
“R U Prepared?” Time: 1 hour
For: The entire congregation Due to mature content, we recommend no children under 12 in this session.
Ezek. 38:7-8 “Get ready; be prepared, you and all the hordes gathered about you, and take command of them. After many days you will be called to arms.”
R U Prepared individually and corporately within the church to be the man or woman God has called you to be? R U Prepared from a purity standpoint? This session concludes with an altar call for God to restore purity.
“R U Willing?” and the Rite of Passage Ceremony Time: 2 hours
For: The entire congregation
1 Chronicles 28:9 “And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve Him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts.” This session reviews the Covenant of Manhood/ Womanhood and the standards of being a man of honor or a woman of virtue. This is the time of personal commitment for the youth to accept their responsibilities and acknowledge their willingness to be the men and women that God has called them to be. This session culminates in a Rite of Passage Ceremony.
