The Apostle Paul wrote instructions about mentoring. He outlined a plan for the older men to teach the younger men and set and example of how to live. Likewise, the older women are to teach the younger women to be godly wives and mothers. (Titus 2:1-8) The call to build disciples and be positive role models that have an impact on the next generation is resoundingly clear.

Why is mentoring important?

Develops character – A good mentoring relationship emphasizes biblical values that are often obscured in a post-modern world.
Builds esteem – Two thirds of American young people experience single-parent home life. Many others lack significant parental involvement in the frantic pace of our culture. A mentoring relationship shows young people that they are worth the investment of time and energy.

Stimulates outreach – Mentoring results in multiplication. Evangelism and discipleship are both natural outgrowths of the mentoring model.

We offer training and strategic planning assistance in implementing the 40 Developmental Assets from Search Institute. The 40 Assets are skills, relationships, values and self-perceptions that all children need to become healthy, functioning, caring adults in their community. This training is effective for churches, parents, schools and any community group interested in learning more about how to position the children and youth around them for success.
